Our third character, Kalea, makes the scene.
Reminder: The “<>” around the dialogue indicate the language being spoken is not English. It could possibly be French or a native Polynesian language like Tahitian. We keep it in English for the fun. 😀

You get the feeling Leilani gets her way a lot, don’t you?
Who are these strangers though? More details coming up later!

Some context for readers:
Bora Bora, in the early part of World War 2, served as a fuel depot and resting place for countless ships and planes returning to or heading into battle. The project, Operation Bobcat, actually helped keep war away from the French Polynesian islands, and was instrumental in swaying momentum to the Allies to win the war in the Pacific.
And this is what Leilani and Kalea are speaking of now. We’ll revisit this and you’ll see a lot more exposition later.
But for now, almost time for a swim…

Kalea’s right, folks.
Sharks don’t have lungs, they have gills.
Island Girls – always titillating, always educating… =)

Have you ever wanted to try free-diving? It’s quite a challenge. It’s not just not breathing that’s a problem, but as Leilani is finding out, the water can punish your body quite a bit with pressure. Your lungs constrict further as the water gets colder, and pretty soon that breath you’re trying to hold, well, you can’t anymore.
This is how pearl divers die. So, yeah, maybe you might want to avoid this particular hobby. Stick with needlepoint. Or video games.

This page in no way reflects our views on sharks. Sharks are entirely misunderstood and actually quite tame and sociable.
So, if you should see a shark, be nice to it!
This represents the last page drawn by Ralph. A brand new artist takes the helm in the next page, coming this month!
A teensy preview:

Say hello to artist Roy Wolverine! You already know his work if you’ve been following our other comic, “Insignificant Otters”.
Isn’t he sensational?!
We’re so excited to have him on this project, and give the otters comic over to his wonderfully equally talented brother while he continues with Island Girls for us.
We know. You’re not interested in any of this right now. You want to know what Jack Sawyer’s dog-tags are doing in the middle of the South Pacific.
Ah, the mystery unfolds…
